Lexington Homeless Voice is a publication by and about the normally
unseen population of our community. The purpose is to give a voice to
the voiceless and create awareness of their dreams, hopes and needs.
The LHV is distributed throughout the community, focusing on the faith
communities. People are able to see and understand the reality that the
most disenfranchised in our community live with and ways they can help.
The staff of the LHV consists of the homeless and community supporters;
the staff meets bi-weekly and the direction of the paper, the theme of
each edition and other projects are made by consensus. Being a part of
Lexington Homeless Voice gives everyone an opportunity to be heard and
know that their thoughts are important. The LHV is organized by the
Catholic Action Center, 400 E. 5th St. Everyone is welcome to join in
the meetings, which are held every other Sunday evening from
6:30-8:00pm. You can call 859-514-7210 for more information.
Lexington Homeless Voice Co-op: Crossing Over for Jesus
This is a new ministry of the Catholic Action Center to help those
struggling for employment in these difficult economic times. Members of
the cooperative make the crosses daily at the Center, joining together
in the dignity of work and fellowship. All proceeds after sales go to
the cooperative, and the members are paid by the number of crosses they
completed. Crosses are sold at various church and community functions.
LHV Crosses are now available online to help our brothers and sisters
in need have an income by the work of their hands and hearts! Purchase crosses here. To help or for more information, call 859-514-7210 or email godsnet@insightbb.com.
Crosses for the Troops
The Lexington Homeless Voice Cross Co-op has also begun selling crosses
to send to the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. Crosses will be
distributed to the troops through the military chaplains. You can help
to support the troops and support the cross co-op by purchasing crosses
