GodsNet: Building a Safety Net
With the Internet for Those in Need
GodsNet was created in September, 2005 to "build a safety net with the
Internet for those in need." By selling donated books, music CDs, VHS
& DVD movies, and Video Game software on the Internet, cash is
generated to further the inner city ministries. Volunteers helped
to raise funds for the winter 2007 season and dedicated them to
the
"Keep the Heat On" fund.
Through this joint effort with Community
Action Council, we are attempting to fill in the gap of federal, state
and local funding for utility assistance. The "Keep the Heat On"
fund, established in 2001, is administered by the Community Action
Council, as the primary social service resource in the Bluegrass area
for utility assistance. This fund is allocated for those who otherwise
would not receive assistance; it is designed to fill in the gap of
other funds and is targeted at helping the working poor.
With the increase in heating costs, YOU
can help by donating books (paperback or hardback), music CDs, VHS
& DVD movies, and Video Game software. It will make a
difference in the lives of families who otherwise would have to decide
whether to pay their rent, buy food, or
Keep the Heat On!
This safety net is a painless way for
people in our community to help. Items are donated locally and people
all over the world are keeping the heat on for families in Central
Kentucky by purchasing these donated items on the Internet!
